We're in orbit over the International Space Station National Laboratory: Delos ...
Universities, companies and research centers across Northeast Ohio are eagerly anticipating a decision that could make our region the headquarters for the space economy of the future. NASA soon will decide where to locate the command center for its International Space Station National Laboratory. For the past several months, a contingent of business leaders, scientists and gov ernment officials -- led by Team Northeast Ohio -- have tirelessly campaigned to attract this extraordinary opportunity to Cleveland's Health-Tech Corridor.
The trajectory began last year when Congress instructed NASA to form a new, stand-alone, nonprofit organization to manage the research and commercialization opportunities within this unique laboratory -- which spans the length and width of a football field and orbits the Earth carrying an in ternational crew of six astronauts.
After a coast-to-coast evaluation of sites, Battelle Memorial Institute and the Universities Space Research Association responded with a bold vision for a joint-venture organization located in Northeast Ohio's thriving life-sciences economic system. The new organization would be responsible for stimulating and developing interest in using the National Laboratory. One of the most promising areas for development is biomedical research.
This makes Northeast Ohio a brilliant choice. We have a rich heritage of research and innovation stemming from in stitutions and companies such as Case Western Reserve University, the University of Akron, Kent State University, Ohio State University, the Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, Parker Hannifin, Eaton, Sherwin-Williams and Goodyear.
In the biomedical space, the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals alone contribute to the employment of more than 120,000 health care professionals. More than 400 bioscience companies -- many from around the globe -- populate the area, creating a flourishing life-sciences cluster. New bioscience startups increasingly are adding to that number.
The region is one of the largest magnets for venture capital investment, with more than 20 startup incubators in the Health-Tech Corridor. The energy and intense activity at this intersection of research, innovation and entrepreneurship has made our region a national model for innovation and commercialization. President Barack Obama recently praised Northeast Ohio for generating discoveries and turning them into winning commercial ventures that improve the quality of life and create jobs.

I had put up the previous two posts on this page asking about relief for Schedule A professionals in 2008......time has passed by but nothing has changed.....no sight of any relief or any schedule A bill........missed the july 2007 fiasco due to employer insisting on 40 day cool off period........have been in US for 6 years......no sign of EB3 india being even close to Oct 2007 (my PD)........employer has refused to file EB2 point blank.......no other employer ready for EB2........spouse on h4 visa since oct. 2006......have lost all hope and just going through the motions......is there light at the end of tunnel??? On June 13, Department of State announced in its Visa Bulletin for July 2007 that all employment-based categories (except for the Other Workers category) for immigrant visas will be "current," (http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_3263.html) meaning that individuals/businesses going through the lengthy and backlogged immigrant visa or "green card" process can, throughout July, file adjustment of status applications. The Department Of State regulations at 22 CFR 42.51 (http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/waisidx_05/22cfr42_05.html) and 8 CFR 245.1(g), allows individuals/businesses to rely on and use such information. Historically, they have relied on such information knowing that when they prepare and file such applications, they will be accepted and adjudicated. However on July 2, 2007, The Department of State issued a new bulletin (http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_3263.html) with an update on July Visa Availability and USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) started rejecting adjustment of status applications for several employment-based immigration preference categories (http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/VisaBulletin2Jul07.pdf), despite the fact that the published July Visa Bulletin shows that visas for these categories are available thereby violating its long-standing policy and the expectations of thousands of people, without any advance notification to the general public or issuing any notification under the Administrative Procedures Act (APA).
