State plans $15 million resurfacing on Audubon
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has awarded a nearly $15 million contract to improve the driving surface on a portion of the Audubon Parkway in eastern Henderson County.
The project involves applying an asphalt overlay on the parkway from approximately 1.5 miles west of the Hebbardsville/Kentucky 416 interchange to the bridge over the Green River, a distance of 7.4 miles.
The work also includes an overlay on the deck of the Kentucky 416 bridge over the parkway at the Hebbardsville interchange.
The W.L. Harper Co. of Hebron, Ky., submitted the low bid for the project.
A start date for work hasn't been announced yet.
The $15 million contract was the biggest issued in the state at its May 20 bid letting, for which nearly $75 million in contracts were awarded.
The cabinet has also issued contracts for other highway improvement projects in the region including:

Most of Kentucky 416 between Kentucky 1078 and Kentucky 351 at Hebbardsville, a distance of 2.5 miles;

South Airfield Road bids lower than expected | The Boone Blog
By Stephanie Salmons ⢠ssalmons@nky.com
A long-awaited Boone County road project is now even closer to its start.
County officials received six bids for the South Airfield Road project, according to County Administrator Jeff Earlywine.
“I think it was about what we expected,” he said. “I thought we would have a strong turnout. We’re pleased with the six bids.”
The new road will run from Ky. 18 across from Oakbrook and across Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport property to Turfway Road. A connector road will be built to Houston Road, across from Woodspoint Drive.
The road is funded through mostly local and federal funds, and is one of the largest road projects Boone County has ever undertaken.
L-M Asphalt Partners (doing business as ATS Construction) from Lexington submitted the apparent low bid of $11,965,622, Earlywine said.
Other bids received were:
⢠Eaton Asphalt â $12,141,233
⢠The W.L. Harper Co. â $12,399,224
⢠Barrett Paving â $12,726,728
⢠Lawrence Construction â $12,918,187
⢠Hicon Construction â $13,609,451
The bids include the total construction cost of the project, Earlywine said.
According to Earlywine, officials are in the process of evaluating all the bids, which he said were lower than expected, in hopes of having a recommendation for the Fiscal Court next week.
After the internal bid review and analysis, the county will coordinate with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to “make sure they concur with our work and analysis,” he said.
“To be honest, all of these are good bids,” Earlywine said.
According to Earlywine, companies had to option to bid asphalt or concrete surface. Engineer estimates for an asphalt surface option was more than $14 million with a 10 percent contingency.
“Even without any contingency, we were pleased with not just receiving six bids, but the quality and competitive (bids),” he said.
