Electric City Kennel Club hosting dog show

The Electric City Kennel Club is continuing a tradition that's 378 years in the making - well, 378 dog years.

There are hundreds of breeds entered in the annual dog show, including some new ones to the Great Falls show, such as the Boerboel, Cane Corso, and the Leonberger.

Montana is mostly known for Arctic breeds, and the friendliness of the state makes it well-suited for breeding dogs.

The goal is to work toward larger shows like Westminster or Eukanuba, but handlers say there's plenty of competition in the Electric City.

Professional dog handler Alvin Lee noted, "We are known as a circuit for the dog shows in Montana, and it's a vacation, but it's also a serious sport where people bring their best to represent their breeds. So you have some of the top dogs in the country here today."

Head

Muzzle: Very broad and deep, width is nearly equal to its length, which reaches approximately 1 third of the total length of the head; the depth of muzzle is much more then 50% of the length of the muzzle.

The leading and bottom muzzle plains are parallel, and also the nose and chin form a perpendicular line. Hindquarters

Coat

Color

Acceptable colors are black, lighter and darker shades of gray, lighter and darker shades of fawn, and red. Brindling is allowed on all of these colors. There may be a white patch on the chest, throat, chin, backs of the pasterns, and on the toes. Disqualification: Any color with tan pattern markings as seen in black-and-tan breeds.
