Fox News Personalities

Are the liberal media attacking conservatives?

The clip from the show is actually humorous. Stewart probably didn't mean it as a racial slur. However, if a conservative comic had directed such a segment at President Obama, you can bet it would have ended his career. Where were Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson? Why didn't they jump to Mr. Cain's defense?

Why? The reason isn't race, but politics. We have become so divided as a country that political opposites now treat each other as enemies. The left has become consumed with defeating all conservatives.

During his interview with Chris Wallace, Stewart decried his critics. "I'm just a comedian," he wailed, and then compared himself to Mark Twain. Mark Twain?! The similarities aren't striking. Perhaps he meant to say Shania Twain? One of Mark Twain's famous quotes is, "a man is never more truthful than when he acknowledges himself as a liar." Stewart has clearly failed at this endeavor.

This is more than just a random, un-biased, non-partisan comedy bit. As a standup comic, I have poked fun at hoards of public personalities. I completely understand Stewart's quip, understanding that respect and courtesy are often lost in the continual quest for a good line, but that is not what happened here. This was a political attack, motivated by liberal ideology.

It is interesting to note that Jon Stewart was very easy on his friend Anthony Weiner during the whole Weinergate scandal, but was far less compassionate to John Edwards.

Fox News has the tag line, "fair and balanced." They seem to live up to that. That, unfortunately, is untrue for the ever-snickering Stewart.

During the course of his interview on Fox, Stewart admitted that he called Fox news a "biased, relentless agenda driven 24-hour news opinion, propaganda delivery system". Sound like a punchline to you? No, it doesn't.

Are we making too much out of this? Is Jon Stewart a serious political commentator, or just a shadow who has stepped out of the comedy clubs?

This much is true: There is power in humor, and both sides know it. Politics is a battle of comedic wits, and the victors will be those who think fastest on their feet.

Maybe a comedian will make it to The White House one day, though preferably not Jon Stewart. Think about it. After a state dinner, the future president says, "don't forget to tip your server on the way out. Thanks, you've been a great crowd, I'll be here for the next four years."

Peace, out.....

In the video below, conservative opinion host Bill O’Reilly insists that he’s a “simple man” and came away from the recent Republican debate feeling “very confused,” specifically by Paul. But was he really confused, or just playing that role?
