#5 Hound Dog
The lyrics of "You ain't nothin' but a hound dog..." were made famous by Elvis Presley. Elvis released the song in 1956, but his version of "Hound Dog" is actually a remake of blues singer Willie Mae "Big Mama" Thornton's 1952 original recording. Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, put Hound Dog at No. 19.
#4 All Shook Up
"All Shook Up" was released by Elvis in 1957, and the single topped the US pop music chart on April 13. The song was written by Otis Blackwell after Al Stanton – one of the owners of Shalimar Music – shook a bottle of Pepsi and suggested that Blackwell write a song about it. The song was later covered by the Beatles in 1969 and Billy Joel recorded the song for the movie "Honeymoon in Vegas" in 1991.
#3 Love Me Tender
Elvis released "Love Me Tender" in 1956. The song was recorded for the movie by the same name. The movie was originally going to be called "The Reno Brothers" but was changed to Love Me Tender after the song shot up the charts. Love Me Tender is actually an adaptation of a Civil War ballad, "Aura Lee," published in 1861.
#2 Don't Be Cruel
Elvis Presley released "Don't Be Cruel" in 1956 and is another song written by Otis Blackwell. Don't Be Cruel was his biggest hit in 1956. The song was recorded at RCA studios in New York City. During the same marathon recording session on July 2, 1956, Presley also recorded '"Hound Dog" and "Any Way You Want Me." Presley did 28 takes before he was satisfied with Don't Be Cruel. Hound Dog took 31 takes.

"If I Can Dream" was written by Walter Earl Brown, it was recorded by Elvis Presley in June 1968. It was recorded two months after Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination, and includes quotes from King. Elvis performed the song with a southern gospel style.
