Brevard changes its shape for redistricting
Decisions The Brevard County redistricting committee has voted on the following changes to districts 1, 2 and 4:
District 1 would pick up an area of West Cocoa from I-95 east to Cox Road, and from State Road 528 to Pluckebaum Road, with a small portion along King Street to Range Road for a gain of 3,554 residents to 108,654.
District 2 loses the above area and gains the city of Rockledge from the district's existing northern boundary south to Barnes Boulevard for a gain of 20,181 residents to 113,094.
District 4 loses the above area and adds the part of District 5 north of Eau Gallie Boulevard from Wickham Road east to the ocean. It means District 4 would pick up all of Indian Harbour Beach. Next time Rockledge voters go to the polls, it will be in a new Brevard County Commission district. The same goes for thousands of Indian Harbour Beach and west Cocoa residents. And Palm Bay may wind up with its own district on the county board.
