Manhattan Beach police arrested two men Wednesday on suspicion of robbery after a theft at a downtown jewelry store.
Officers responded about 11:15 a.m. to the 23rd Street Jewelers on Manhattan Avenue after employees reported that three assailants had entered the store and used pepper spray on one worker, the department said.
The suspects then jumped the counters, took an undisclosed amount of jewelry and fled to a waiting vehicle, police said.
Within minutes of the call, officers found a vehicle driving near the Civic Center Plaza that matched the description of the suspects' car.
The vehicle - a maroon Chevrolet with paper plates - was stopped in the 1900 block of Valley Drive.
Police arrested 23-year-old Martin Lincoln of Los Angeles and Jermane Love, 21, of Quartz Hill. They were booked on suspicion of robbery.
A third suspect, described as a black male possibly dressed in all black, has not been found.

Thieves armed with a bat and hammer made off with a large quantity of valuables during a smash-and-grab robbery of a jewellery store, during which a person was pepper sprayed.
Halton Regional Police say that a few minutes before the mall’s 9 p.m. closing time on Monday three people ran into Michael Hill Jewellers in Burlington Mall.
The two employees on duty went into the rear of the store when the culprits began to smash display cases using a hammer and a bat.
“They pretty much cleared out what was on display,” said Burlington Det.-Sgt. Ray Bruce, adding it’s not known yet what kinds of items were taken and their total estimated value as the store has to do an inventory to determine what is missing.
The valuables were put in bags that the thieves brought with them.
Police say the breaking of the display cases caught the attention of a mall maintenance man who went to the front of the jewelry store. One of the robbers sprayed the worker in the face with pepper spray.
The culprits ran from the store into the mall parking lot and entered what is described as a small, dark-coloured car being driven by a fourth person.
The maintenance person was treated at the scene by paramedics. There were no other injuries to anyone.
There was an initial report of the sound of gunshots at the beginning of the robbery. However, police say they have not discovered any evidence that a firearm was used.
Police are interviewing a number of witnesses.
The three culprits, believed to be men, were dressed in black-coloured hoodies with their faces covered.
Burlington detectives were at the jewellery store Tuesday morning for follow-up investigation including an attempt to retrieve store security videotape.
